At the start of March, Youngblood released their NEW Spring 2013 collection, which included their truly Incredible Wear Gel Liner in Lagoon, a pure teal, their moisturizing Lipstick in Debalicious, a creamy bubblegum pink, Anti-Shine Mattifier Oil Control Solution, an invisible mattifier than can be used before or after face makeup, and a new blend of their Mineral In The Mist in Relax, designed to soothe stressed, irritated or sensitive skins. (see the full press release HERE) I have been trying out the three makeup items in the past month and I have been anxious to share my thoughts on them.
Anti-Shine Oil Control Solution $36.00
DESCRIPTION: When applied, our Anti-Shine Mattifier works to absorb excess surface oil, while Nigella and Pumpkin Seed oils are released to purify and balance the skin. This process provides an immediate and long-lasting mattifying effect.
MY THOUGHTS: This product was the most intriguing to me, a solid anti-shine product. To the touch it feels like a cream blush, pretty slick and easy to blend into the skin. I didn't care to use the sponge or a brush to apply it, but using my fingers is much more effective for me. I have loved using this as a primer underneath my liquid foundations and mineral powder makeups. It really does assist in controlling the shine for hours, but by the end of the day I do need a touch up to remove some shine. I heard you can use it on top of your makeup as well as a touch up or blotting product, but I haven't figured out how to use it without disturbing my face makeup. (btw, my skin tone is normal/combo)
Lipstick in Debalicious $19.00
DESCRIPTION: Get gorgeous lips with our colorful range of luxurious lipsticks. The lanolin-free formula contains a special blend of natural oils and vitamins. Stays fresh-looking for hours.
MY THOUGHTS: These lipsticks are amazing in quality, they are really moisturizing without being slick or shiny. They're really nice for extended wear too because they don't chap your lips and they hold their pigmentation really well. I've previously reviewed the shades Tangelo and Blushing Nude. Debalicious is a girly bubblegum pink inspired by their Global Sales Manager, Debbie Axen, the shade was created to mimic her signature shade. It's a really fun and fresh shade of pink, personally I have to mix it with either a lip liner or colored gloss to tint it enough to wear. It's teetering on too light for me to pull off when worn on its own. In person, my skin is much yellower, and the pink shade makes my skin look faux-tanned... in a very unflattering way, haha!
Incredible Wear Gel Liner in Lagoon $21.00
DESCRIPTION: Our intensely colored, long-wearing formula glides on smoothly like a liquid liner with the precision of an eye pencil. Very water-resistant for budge-proof glamour!
MY THOUGHTS: I'm already a fan of their truly incredible gel liners, I previously reviewed their shade in Midnight Sea, a deep navy. Lagoon is the same long wear, creamy, pigmented formula in a super bright teal. I love the pop of color it creates, and I doubley love that it's a bright blue because I'm a daily wearer of blue eye makeup. The color description says this shade has a golden sheen, but to me there is little to no golden sheen, or any sheen at all. It looks very matte on my eyes.
